Volunteer

The work of Carlisle and District CAB would not be possible without our volunteers. Nationally, 90% of CAB workers are volunteers.

There are a number of ways in which volunteers can contribute. You could train to be an adviser, work in admin support, sit on the trustee board or help with fundraising and publicity and equally importantly, assist with our social policy work.

What are we looking for?

All our volunteer advisers will receive full training. Particular qualifications or experience are not necessary, but you do need to be:

  • a good listener who enjoys helping people
  • open minded and non-judgemental
  • able to read complex information and explain it in simple terms
  • able to do basic English and Maths
  • able to work as part of a team
  • able to commit to a certain number of hours each week

A Unique Opportunity

For many people volunteering provides an opportunity to meet a wide range of people and make new friends. Additionally, there is the satisfaction of doing something useful, meeting and overcoming intellectual challenge, gaining satisfaction in a job well done and at the same time contributing to the community.

CAB Advisor Training is widely respected and valued. You will have 100% support, training and have your expenses met.
